My Passion Hiding in Plain Sight

For over 35 years, my professional life revolved around communications. I was a journalist, radio presenter, and creative writer. I helped launch the first 24-hour radio news network in Australia, co-hosted breakfast radio shows, headed up the creative department of Sydney’s number one radio station, and programmed the UK’s first all-female digital radio channel.
But radio was my job, not my passion.
In 1987, a friend introduced me to Shirley MacLaine’s “Out on a Limb”, a docu-drama based on the actress’ spiritual journey. It covered topics such as reincarnation, karma, philosophy, and the big questions, like “why are we here?” and “what’s our purpose?” At 17, it was a revelation. Something inside me suddenly switched on. I needed to know more. And so began my quest for answers.

One Constant Through It All
After decades of searching, reading, listening, and learning, there is one thing I know to be true above all else, and that is that deep in the heart of each of us there is an intelligence we don’t fully understand; an innate wisdom that is always speaking to us. I’m not talking about the incessant chatter in your head, but the quiet, gentle knowing that resides in your heart.
I was raised to trust that little voice, and yet, for the best part of ten years I ignored it. For ten years I waged war – not with my partner at the time – but with my heart. It knew all along what my head refused to acknowledge. By the time I conceded defeat and ended that relationship, I was a broken woman. But here’s the thing: that “something” in my heart never gave up on me. The instant I surrendered to what I had known all along, everything shifted. It was night and day.
I know first-hand how painful it is to fight with yourself. Listening to, and trusting that still, small voice takes courage. But of all the things I have learned over the years, it is by far the greatest thing you can do for yourself.
Which is why I launched Step Into Me. Through my podcast and writing, I hope to shed light on what that little voice is (and isn’t) and help you tap into your own innate wisdom so that you too can find the courage to be true to yourself.
With love & light,
