“Drifting Boat” Meditation
If you have ever slept in a boat on calm waters, you know how relaxing it can be. So, close your eyes, hop aboard your little boat of calm, and enjoy!
Here’s How You Do It:
- Before you begin the Drifting Boat meditation, find a comfortable place to sit. Ideally, you want to be comfortable enough to stay alert but not so comfortable that you fall asleep (unless of course, falling asleep is your intention, and that’s perfectly okay).
- Take a few moments to relax. Close your eyes if you can. Otherwise, take a gentle gaze.
- Begin this meditation by focusing on your breathing. Notice the rise and fall of your upper body as you breathe in and out. Don’t try to stop your thoughts. Welcome them in, and then pop them on a cloud and allow them to drift away as you continue to focus on your breath in and out.
- Now, imagine you are sitting or lying in a small, super comfortable boat. You are on a beautiful still lake. The scenery is spectacular. The weather is perfect.
- As you drift upon your lake, feel the ever-so-delicate rise and fall of the water beneath you.
- With every inhale, feel the boat gently rise. With every exhale, feel the boat gently fall. Focus only on the rise and fall of your little boat.
- Stay on your boat for as long as you please, and enjoy!
